A member asked:

Could you contract hiv if both partners are virgins?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on people...: One way that HIV is spread from person to person is though intimate / sexual contact such as in vaginal/anal/oral sex acts. If both partners have never had sex, then the risk of HIV transmission is low; however, HIV can also be spread by needle sharing. If one partner has done IV drugs in the past, then that person could spread HIV from shared needles while still being a sexual 'virgin'.
