Yes: Anemia is a condition where your hemoglobin is below the normal range. It can be caused by many factors- iron deficiency is one of the factors than can cause anemia. One can have iron deficiency and does not have anemia-when the process is still early. However if that iron deficiency is left untreated and ongoing- eventually it can cause anemia.

Iron deficiency: Is just one of many causes of anemia, or low hemoglobin. But there are many others. If you are anemic, your doctor will need to run some more tests on you to find out which one of these causes is affecting you.
