Not sure: type 1 implies a particular type of diabetes in which insulin MUST be given and the insulin is the casue of the low sugars. The sugar level is a balance between how much sugar is getting in and how much is being stored away. Small amounts of sugar taken in ways that make absorption more gradual (starches/fiber/tough structures) even out the sugar levels preventing it from going too hi or low.
