Many things: A few of the many important things to know following wisdom teeth extraction are: 1. Smoking can inhibit the healing and lead to 'dry socket' 2. There is often increasing swelling of the surgical area for 3 days 3. It is best not to rinse much for the first 24 hours.

Eat, drink fluids: Avoid anything that will raise your blood pressure, ie. Jogging, lifting heavy objects, to prevent clot loss. Avoid sucking on a straw for 24 hours for the same reason. No smoking for a minimum of 6 hours. Icing area will help reduce /prevent swelling. Take anti-inflammatory drugs for pain. Eat. It's important to maintain your food supply to cells to repair extraction site. Drink plenty of fluid.
