How are low white blood cell count and sickle cell connected?

Nothing: They are not associated. A low white count is found in about 15% of african americans and has no clinical significance.

None: Actually, patients with sickle cell disease often have white blood cell counts that are higher than normal. This is a characteristic of the disease and not necessarily a sign of infection.
