Got bit by my cat & doctor prescribed amoxicillin/k clav. have taken for 2 days now. how long before this stuff helps? still swollen & very painful.

Any bigger?: If size / redness / pain increasing, need to go back to er for recheck. Also should have been told to apply warm compresses several x daily. Amox/clav is good outpt choice, but will take 2-3 days to see improvement, and if worsens first, may need IV antibiotics or to meet surgeon (usually hand) to decompress & irrigate. Good luck!
