Should not be hard : If he is only getting 2 oz a day of milk he must be feeding only once a day and this is not playing any significant role in his nutrition. You can change that time from a time for feeding to one for cuddling or engaging in some other pleasurable activity. Since nutrition is not the need being met replacing it with other bonding activity should suffice.
