Hard to say: Without knowing how you were before starting effexor, (venlafaxine) it's hard to evaluate your lethargy. Depression can manifest this way, and the medicine can also cause sedation in some people. Please discuss your concerns with your psychiatrist, who will know your case more completely and be able to help you determine what's happening. Be well.

Usually not: Usually Effexor (venlafaxine) gives people energy which is why i is recommended in the am. This could be continued depression. It could also be issues with thyroid or vitamin mineral deficiencies. Take a multivitamin every am. Ea a well balanced healthy diet and drink 8 glasses of water a day. See your physician for further workup and to discuss risks benefits side effects and concerns.
