Besides Dementia?: Dementia itself is an ongoing permanent condition involving loss on brain capacity. Some dementias start out by effecting behavior 1st before attacking memory. Other dementias, such as those related to stroke do not progress if you have no more strokes but what's lost is lost & doesn't come back. That being said, there is promise in teaching other areas of the brain to help out (neuroplasticity).
