Alternative?: By that do you mean, choices other than what she is on now, or alternative medicine such as acupuncture? If the first, it depends on whether she has type 1 or 2. Type 1 has to take insulin, but there are various ways to take it. If type 2, there are several drugs available. If you meant the second, then, no. Diet, exercise, weight maintenance - those are essential.
