How is estrogen used to treat prostate cancer? i thought that was only found in women!

Not used: Estrogen used to be a treatment for prostate cancer many years ago but is no longer used to due increased side effects and complications. Newer agents are now used that are not estrogen based but are male hormone blockers.

Suppress testosteron: You are right, estrogen is a female hormone and is used to suppress production of the male hormone (testosterone) and has negative effect on prostate cancer cells.

Estrogen and pca: Years ago it was used to treat prostate ca but it has too many cardiac risks and is no longer used given other treatment options.
