BP Emergency: Most of the time this term is used inappropriately and just alarms people. You do not have a true blood pressure crisis unless your BP is > 180 upper number and > 120 lower number and you have chest pain, or visual effects, or mental status changes (not just headache), or impaired renal function, or heart failure. If you do not have these serious effects, you just need to take regular medications.
