Bipolar diagnosis: An experienced psychiatrist may make an initial diagnosis based on your presentation, taking into account many factors such as: intensity and style of speech, body language, history given by patient, family history, social/occupational history, etc. Ask your doctor how she made the diagnosis, and how she proposes to treat you. Consider getting a second opinion from another professional also.
