Why is it that people with bipolar disorder are more emotional?

Yes and no: In a depressive state someone with bipolar disorder may actually be under-emotional. In a manic state or hypo manic state the person may simply show more signs of energy without necessarily being overly emotional. On the other hand we have all seen people in depression and mania who exhibit over emotionality.
