Are there long-term effects of colon cancer?

Colon cancer: The long-term effects of colon cancer can be severe: obstruction of the bowel, possibly even perforation, metastasis of the tumor to other organs, eg. Liver, and ultimately even death. There are good treatments now available. 74% of patients survive 5 years in stage i cancer, while only 6% survive stage 4 cancer. This is why colon cancer screening is important. Colonoscopy allows earlier diagnosis.

Maybe: Colon cancer is dangerous unless treated and surgically removed, and can spread to lymph nodes or other organs such as the liver. It can grow and block the intestine, or bleed slowly and cause anemia. Once it is treated, if found early, there may be little or no long term problems.
