Saline: Regular saline rinses have been reported to be somewhat effective but be sure that the water has been boiled then cooled unless you has a source of sterile water. However otc antihistamines often work better and prescription nasal sprays better still. Air conditioning usually helps to reduce the amount of airborne allergens if you don't mind the electric bill. Allergy shots can work wonders.

Treating allergies: By saying allergies i assume you have environmental allergy symptoms like nasal congestion, runny nose, itchy eyes and sinus pressure. Otc will only relieve your symptoms temporarily. There are many good medications and methods to use to treat this conditions which already affects your quality of life. An allergist can help you with this.
