A member asked:

What symptoms does someone with barotrauma always have?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Chest pain: Shortness of breath and chest pain are common symptoms of barotrauma. If on ventilator therapy, only changes in the ability to ventilate the patient may be seen. In some conditions, worsening of pre-existing lung injury can occur. Many patients are sedated so no symptoms can be determined.
