A member asked:

Can you tell me about any adults out there who experienced barotrauma and had tubes placed in to help?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

PTX: Baro trauma is a ptx while on mechanical ventilation. It is caused by the ventilator stretching the lung excessively. A prevention scenario is to use low volumes for ventilation. To re-expand the lung a chest tube is inserted.
