A member asked:

Can someone please kindly explain what is spotting in between periods? and can it occur 6 days before your next cycle is due?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Spotting between periods is typically when there is excess lining of your uterus, or the lining of your uterus is extra thin. The first is due to excess estrogen, the second to excess progesterone. A woman needs a balance of these 2 hormones to have normal cycle. It's normal to have some breakthrough bleeding. If your worried see your doctor. If you miss a pill this can occur as well.
