Cry it out: Probably food. Try to start putting him down for naps by himself. Day time is often easier for parents. Nighttime institute a routine: bath, bedclothes, brush, books, bed. Sit with him while he falls asleep, gradually move yourself (over nights in a row) out the door and around the door (so he can't see you). Pretty soon he just thinks you are around the corner and sleeps by himself.

Sleeping: Is you child in ababy crib or in a regular bed. If he is in a crib its time for a regular bed. If he is a regular bed try behavior modification by giving him a star .After 5 stars reward him with a toy, etc. The vomitus is probably undigested food.
