CABG Does Not Repair: CABG does not repair the heart, only bypasses portions of epicardial arteries, may ? limitations of blood supply due to luminal (phenobarbital) artery ds & likely induces additional heart muscle damage that further decreases pump efficiency. Heart muscle which has died does not grow back, is replaced with scar tissue. Best treat factors driving artery ds & add acei + Coreg + exercise in effort to ? heart strength.

CABG : CABG is not a cure and does not necessarily improve ventricular function. With ef35% cardiac rehab and poly pharmacy will be needed to increase function.

Happens: The myocardial infarction or heart attack is loss of heart muscle leading to poor pump performance. Bypasses bring more blood to the heart muscle and help prevent muscle loss or dysfunction. As long as the bypasses are working properly and the valves are working g properly (needs echo to check) the shortness of breath is probably due to the weak muscle.
