Abnormal: When the periods vary it is abnormal. It is a sign of "ovulatory dysfunction" meaning your ovaries and hormones are not working properly. Likely the early part of your cycle is varying more than the latter part. But certainly makes pregnancy difficult.

See a doctor: It is not normal to have 41 and 48 day cycles see a physician for hormone testing to determine the cause.
