Probably: You probably bruised the toe and there is some blood under the nail (a subungual hematoma). If it is localized to the sides, it should be ok, but if the toe becomes over black under the nail or in the skin, go seek a foot and ankle specialist to check it out. You may have done something more than injured the toenail.
