Higher risk: Children of parents with psychiatric conditions such as bipolar disorder have a higher risk of having a psychiatric condition themselves, but it is not a guarantee that they will have bipolar disorder. The inheritance of such disorders is not yet fully understood, but appears to be only partially genetic.
