Absolutely: The best privider is always a close relative, spouse, or friend. This is because that person knows the patient better than anybody else, they see the ups and downs of any medical condition. Believe me, we learn so much from patients and care givers.

Yes.: Most bipolar patients never require hospitalization. Love, nurture, train your child. Get effective, expert professional assistance, and stay at it. For many, "bipolar" need not be a permanent debilitating condition.

Yes - BUT---: I think that parents of children with bipolar disorder ( now called disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD)) are often judged and treated with disdain because of their children's behavior. Of course excellent parenting & home environment can usually help to minimize psychiatric admissions. But it is important to remember that lengthy and frequent hospitalizations may be unavoidable in >
