A member asked:

What exactly does it mean when a benign tumor starts shedding skin?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not certain of ?: Skin, made up of epidermis, can be found in benign tumor, such as a teratoma, epidermal inclusion cyst, branchial cleft anomalies, etc. So, I am not sure if you mean the tumor is producing the skin, or if you mean skin overlying the tumor is shed. If the latter, that may mean the tumor is growing and cutting off blood supply to the overlying skin--causing it to slough.
