It depends: The ring should be removed if their are signs or symptoms of infection. Look for redness, drainage, or oozing. If any of these symptoms develop you should seek a medical opinion.

It is not healed: A navel piercing takes 9 to 12 months to heal. Removing the piercing prior to that can provide a portal for infection.
