Liver/gallbladder: Eat a diet low in fat. Fatty foods make your gallbladder contract. If you have gallstones, then they can get stuck in the biliary duct and cause pain. If it is really your liver causing pain, then avoid things that are metabolized by the liver - avoid alcohol and Acetaminophen for example. Weight loss can also help the liver. Milk thistle is an herb that is touted for liver function.

An evaluation: There are a number of potential causes to pain in the right upper portion of the abdomen that could have nothing to do with the liver. With the information you're giving, you could have an ulcer, gallstones, a bowel obstruction, kidney stones, crohn's disease, or something more serious like heart failure, pneumonia. In this case there really is no substitute for direct physical contact.
