Get 2nd opinion: Many new studies suggest that middle infections in children will take care of themselves w/time. Well, you can't have an outer ear infection w/o pain so i suspect your doc was looking at middle ear effusion (just fluid w/o infection). More likely, clogged ear w/o pain is due to eustachian tube dysfunction so i would think of taking a decongestant or antihistamine, not an antibiotic.
