Depends stage+cause: A stiff heart can result from uncontrolled hypertension, a coronary blockage, a heart muscle condition, or aging. It can lead to backup of fluid on the lungs with shortness of breath. However, if it just shows up on an echocardiogram with no symptoms and no other cardiac issues, it may be at a very early stage and may never bother you if you keep your BP controlled.
