It can: Ativan (lorazepam) is sedating and can make you fall asleep if anxiety is preventing sleep. But it's not a good medicine to use for sleep specifically. There are better medicines to use in that case. Some people also have paradoxical reactions to ativan, (lorazepam) and become activated rather than relaxed.
