The active ingredient in ma huang was later identified by eli lilly to be Ephedrine (ephedrine sulfate) about 60 -70 years ago. The current era of inhaled steroid became available around 40 years ago 2011 marked the centennial for the introduction of allergy shots- often underutilized for asthma treatment.
