Control: Managing asthma is about "control". Most patient's will be on an inhaled steroid medication to control the inflammation in the airways. If this isn't enough, additional medications can be used. Airway dilator medications are used frequently. There are both long-acting and short-acting versions of these. Once patients' symptoms are controlled for several months, we can sometimes cut back meds.
