Scientific Rx: See your physician now if speed's important (prom coming up, etc.) if benzoyl peroxide fails, start a topical antibiotic such as Clindamycin and/or a retinoic acid derivative and/or a systemic antibiotic. Severe acne needs to be evaluated for isotretinoin. It's a non-lifestyle-related serious chronic disease that needs to be managed long-term.

None: Nothing is quick. In most cases, good skin comes from consistently taking good care of your skin and body (good nutrition).

Strong Rx: Acne on the trunk usually won't respond well to topicals, though you may continue to use benzoyl peroxide and perhaps topical clindamycin. If you have not yet been offered it, a systemic antibiotic such as tetracycline 500 2x/day may do the trick. Dermatologists have the strong stuff.

Chronic disease: If two weeks on over-the-counter benzoyl peroxide doesn't clear you, get with your physician. You may be a rx for a topical retinoic acid derivative, the oral contraceptive pill (if you're female), topical clindamycin, a systemic antibiotic such as tetracycline, or a dermatology referral for possible isotretinoin. All acne is manageable today; it's not a hygiene or lifestyle problem. We can help.

Scientific Rx: Start using topical benzoyl peroxide as tolerated and phone your physician to ask about possible supplemental Rx such as a topical or systemic antibiotic, or (if you're a lady) a hormonal manipulation. Easy acne can be gone in 2 weeks but you need to be vigilant as it can't be cured but must be managed until it self-cured. If offered isotretinoin, give this rough medicine strong consideration.

No food does that: There is no food that has been shown to get rid of acne. Whoever discovers such a food will be famous all over the world! on the other hand, it's good to avoid sugars, refined starches, and animal fats... Just to keep a healthier body.

Time: Fortunately, acne is self limiting. How do you know that it is acne? Irresponsible of me to offer a diagnosis - might i suggest seeing your family physician?
