Persistent crying: In the first 6 weeks of life, colic is common; this fussing is often difficult to soothe by holding or cuddling, but will pass. There is no specific treatment. In older infants, persistent crying is usually due to something wrong, examples include, scratching the eyeball with a fingernail, getting a piece of hair or thread tightening around a toe, internal GI problems including constipation, etc.
