Sometimes: Sometimes you can take an ocp to help stop your menstrual cycle once its started. If you are considering this, and have extra pills, you might want to take 2 pills a day instead of 1, until your bleeding stops. If you don't have extra pills, try taking just the one a day and see if your bleeding stops. Again, not the placebo pills in the last week, but the first week of a new pack.
