Weight loss: There is no fast treatment for the pickwickian syndrome. The treatment of choice is weight loss through diet and exercise which can cure the syndrome. Weight loss surgery is sometimes necessary. If obstructive sleep apnea is present it should be treated with cpap, if significant carbon dioxide retention due to hypoventilation is present diamox, (acetazolamide) Progesterone and theophylline may be of benifit.
