A member asked:

I've had ct scans with contrast several times with no reaction but the last time i broke out in hives and had nausea. why would that be?

Minor contrast : Reaction. These are not a conventional allergic reaction in that the symptoms may never happen again or may occur sporadically (though one episode increases your chances of having another one). You are not precluded from having contrast again but may want to be premedicated with Benadryl (diphenhydramine) /steroids next time to decrease the chance of this happening again. This is easy to do with a few pills.
