Failed sterilization: The 10-year cumulative failure rate for tubal ligation is 1.85%. The risk of failure depends on the method that was used: lowest for postpartum sterilization and laparoscopic unipolar coagulation, highest for hulka clips or silicone bands. There is a risk of becoming pregnant even if your tubes were tied. If you suspect that you might be pregnant please see a gyn. Ectopic pregnancy is possible.
