Where do i go to get a shoulder joint replacement done?

Find specialist: You will want to search for an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in a shoulder joint replacement. Make sure they have performed many of these surgeries before moving forward with the procedure. Ask your primary care physician or if you know an orthopedic surgeon for referrals.

Shoulder specialist: Research orthopedic surgeons in your area who have sub specialty training in shoulder surgery (usually shoulder/elbow or sports medicine/shoulder fellowship). Academic medical centers with large orthopedic departments typically have a surgeon who specializes in shoulder arthroplasty. If you have any reservations get a second or third opinion. Your primary doc can usually help your search.

Shoulder surgeon: You should try to find a surgeon who specializes in shoulder surgery. Surgeons who perform procedures frequently have been shown to achieve better outcomes with less complications that the surgeon who performs them occasionally. I recommend you speak to friends, neignbors, your pcp, and physical therapists. Once you do your homework, interview them for the job! good luck!

Orthopaedic surgeon: Shoulder replacements are performed by orthopaedic surgeons. Some orthopaedic surgeons do a fellowship in shoulder and elbow, hand or upper extremity surgery and are better equipped to handle this type of surgery. Always check that your surgeon is board certified and performs the procedure regularly.

Joint replacement: First you should have several opinions as to the appropriate treatment as this is a big step for a 31 yo. You should ask for referrals to orthopedic surgeons that have experience with them. Ask your regular dr to recc an Ortho dr who should be able to give u direction to the established shoulder replacement surgeon in your area
