Dr. Gregory Rouw answered

Specializes in Podiatry

Avascular necrosis: AVN refers to a disruption of the vascular supply to a bone. Early treatment involves protecting the bone from stress. If late in the process and bone has been damaged beyond repair then either bracing or surgical joint fusion can be considered. Consult a podiatrist or foot and ankle specialist to evaluate and discuss treatment plan.
