Not always: Psych meds are serious business. They often improve things, but can also complicate your problems if not correctly managed. The more complex your medical problems, the more important it is to work with a psychiatrist who can help you find a medicine that fits with the rest of your treatment. Pain often wakes people up as meds wear off & triggers anxiety. The right psych meds can help.

Insomnia: Some psychiatric meds can be helpful provided they are the appropriate medications for you specifically. Consult with a mental health professional first before you make the decision regarding medications as you may learn the causes of your distress and new coping mechanisms that may relieve your sleepless nights. Best wishes.

Can't sleep: Talk to your doctor about this & see if you need assessed for secondary insomnia (insomnia due to other organic or psychological factors) which can be treated. Meanwhile you can try the sleep hygiene techniques.
