My 3 yr daughter grinds her teeth a lot when she sleeps. is that normal? she's totally fine and doesn't exhibit any discomfort while sleeping or awake

Normal: Teeth grinding also called bruxism is normal. However prolonged grinding can damage teeth. Night bites are not used in children this young. Consult with her dentist at her next routine visit.

Not a big deal: It is not uncommon for little children to grind their teeth in sleep. You should not be worried about it at this time. As long as she does not have any discomfort, she is fine. As she gets older and if she continues with this habit, you may consult a pediatric dentist to see if a night guard would be helpful. It is not practical to make that at such early age as the children won't be compliant.

No Worries Mom: Yes it is completely normal for young children to grind their teeth. The biggest concern is 1.) they do not out grow it and grind on their permanent teeth, and 2.) that they grind so heavily that they wear their baby teeth too much. Most children do out grow the habit before problems occur and so it is important to notify her dentist so she can be monitored but don't worry too much.
