Blood colors...: The color of blood relates to how long the blood has been sitting inside the body. Red is newer. Brown or black is older, as some of the blood products have started to break down. If there are no additional symptoms, and if periods are regular in timing and not too heavy, having brown/black/red colors may be normal. One can ask the doctor about it during one's annual exam (sooner if worried).
