Severe sprain: Possibly a severe ankle sprain with or without joint damage. It may take longer to heal and the swelling may take a few months to sufficiently decrease to run. Try bracing and antiinflammatory meds before a run. If pain is severe, see a doctor for further imaging.

Ankle: Any time pain persists for 6 weeks an evaluation is indicated . Trying to care for it yourself is not a good option. Seek the help of a podiatrist who can evaluate you , get/ take xrays or other imaging as needed. Do this sooner rather than later good luck !
