HSV 2: First if you do not know where you have this virus then the only option is to put you on a daily medication, valacyclovir, to suppress any viral shedding you may have. This will lower your contagiousness by about 50%. Your sexual partner should be tested as well. If they have hsv 2 they cannot get it again. A condom would only protect your partner if your herpes is on your penis.
