Not too long : Generally most stimulant medications have been metabolized and are not producing much beneficial effect by 8 to 10 hours after they are taken. Metabolism of drugs vary and some patients lose the effect much earlier in the day and some have some residual effect that causes sleep issues. They do not have to build up in your system to produce effect and if you skip a dose you will not have benefit.
