Unusual: Veins can get inflamed with ivs, drugs etc but most veins do not hurt. Arteries do not usually hurt either except some unusual arteritis. Musculoskeletal pains are more common in arms? Need full history and exam with hope to be accurate.

Arm vein pain: This can be due to a thrombosis or blood clot in the vein. If it persists he should be seen by a physician.

See a doctor: It is a bit unusual to have pain in the veins on the arms. This could be due to a thrombosis [blood clot] in the vein. You should have this checked out by a doctor possibly a veins specialist.
