Not a good idea: Talk to your physician. I am a psychologist, but alcohol & psychiatric medications don't mix. Sometimes the mixture can be lethal. Antidepressants are powerful medications, follw your doctors orders!

It depends: With many antidepressants, having a drink on occasion is not going to cause problems. However regular or heavy drinking is not recommended. Also, certain antidepressants, such as maois, react with certain foods and drinks, one of which is red wine. For this reason, it is important to ask your doctor and/or pharmacist about any restrictions that may be involved in the particular med you're taking.
