Not by themselves: As a rule, antidepressants do not make you feel better about yourself. They can calm the more painful symptoms of depression and anxiety, though, so that psychotherapy can proceed & you can work through limiting life issues. This can improve how you feel about yourself. Some early patients treated with Prozac (fluoxetine) did say they felt "better than well, " though. Read "listening to prozac" by kramer.

Antidepressant : Antidepressants will change the neuro chemical balance in your body creating a change in self acceptance, but they come with side effects and should be taken with care and alongside a good counseling program in order to get to the root of what is causing your depression. Hope this helps.
